Nicopatch®

By controlling pharmacological dependency, it is then easier to treat psychological and behavioural problems, hence higher chances of success when using nicotine replacement therapies: according to analyses, using a nicotine replacement product multiplies by two the smoking cessation success rate.

The patch (or transdermal device) is a specific form of therapeutics, applied directly to the skin and whose originality resides in the sustained diffusion of a substance, without creating a peak effect and adapted to each individual.

The highest scientific authorities have recognized the value of nicotine-based patches, as well as their efficacy in helping nicotine-dependent subjects quit smoking.

Nicopatch® is available in three dosages

  • 7 mg/24 hours, i.e. 10 cm2
  • 14 mg/24 hours, i.e. 20 cm2
  • 21 mg/24 hours, i.e. 30 cm2

The patch should be applied after showering, to towel-dried skin and onto a smooth, hairless and wound-free area of the body, where sweating is limited to make sure the patch sticks well to skin.

The patch is usually placed on the shoulder blade, on the external side of the arm or on the hip. It can also be applied underneath a swimsuit, although in this case, we recommend covering the patch with a waterproof plaster before going in the water.

Patches may induce some secondary effects, such as redness where the patch was placed (switching body locations every day will solve this minor problem). In the case of persistent or extensive redness, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. There is no dependency to nicotine-based patches.

Warning! A patch is meant to reduce withdrawal symptoms caused by smoking cessation: it therefore needs to be adequately dosed. Do not underestimate you dependency to nicotine (see test) and choose adapted patches. For this, do not hesitate to consult your doctor or pharmacist.

And remember: as soon as you start using a patch, you must stop smoking to increase your chances of success.
